OPENING LETTER:

Here is my July newsletter in the beginning of August. On the bright side, I almost had this out in July! Certainly the next one will be out on time, and then all should be fine from there on. Things are going a little better for me. I hope all of you are doing well. It seems a lot of us are having a hard time lately. I don't know about you, but I feel the times are changing, what is not right is breaking up, or down as the case may be. These times certainly do test our faith. It is best to let go what no longer works. Keeping our minds positive and optimistic can be trying, but it is what we are called to do if we are to heal and bring in new energy.

Most of us could not escape being painfully aware of John Kennedy Jr's tragic death a few weeks ago. Of all the things I have heard said, the one I think we all need to take to heart is this: Instead of wrapping ourselves up in his, or his father's memories, we best dedicate our lives to service toward living a full and productive life. This would especially be a good time to pause and ask, How can we better serve God, and how can we bring good into the world around us?

The Carpenter July 1999

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.

When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house." he said, "It's my gift to you." What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.

So it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points we do not give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized that, we would have done it differently. Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity.

The plaque on the wall says, "Life is a do-it-yourself project." Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today. Pass this on to someone you care about. I did.

CONCERNING WATER FILTRATION

Here is a short note concerning water filters to clear up some of the questions I am being asked:

For years I have sold Doulton water filters to my clients. They are very good, as I have written in my catalog. The problem is that my catalog needs to be updated. The Doulton is a very good filter, but I have found a better one. A few clients who have low water pressure, or heavy sediment in their water, have had trouble with the Doulton. Furthermore, to remove fluoride, a separate filter attachment has to be purchased.

I am now offering a new system, The Sun Pure Filter. It is a two filter system, and it removes fluoride. Additionally, it treats the water with Ultra-Violet Light. This destroys bacteria, viruses, parasites, etc. I believe this system is far superior to the Doulton. It is a bit more expensive, but not much if you need to purchase the extra fluoride attachment with Doulton's system. I will still provide the Doulton to those who want it, but from here on, I will be recommending the Sun Pure.

Another great thing about the new Sun Pure is its digital component that lets you know when to change the filter. A big drawback in other units has always been people using the units far past the time when the filters are saturated and no longer effective, and worse, they could be poisoning their drinking water.

Again, filtering water is a necessity today. This is one of the most important things anyone can do for their health, and the health of their children. Most of the filters being sold in stores and advertised in the media are not worth your money, and are not able to purify your water to the degree necessary for good health. In the past I used the Doulton in my own home, but my families water is now purified by the Sun Pure. If I knew of a better filter, I would be using it myself. I don't recommend distilled or reverse osmosis. I recommend what I use. That is the way I have always run my practice.

22. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other
23. Spend some time alone
24. Open your arms to change , but don't let go of your values
25. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer
26. Read more books and watch less TV
27. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll get to enjoy it a second time
28. Trust in God but lock your car
29. A loving atmosphere in your homes is so important. Do all you can to create a tranquil harmonious home
30. In disagreement with loved ones, deal with the current situation. Don't bring up the past
31. Read between the lines
32. Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality
33. Be gentle with the earth
34. Pray. There's immeasurable power in it
35. Never interrupt when you are being flattered
36. Mind your own business
37. Don't trust a man/woman who doesn't close his/her eyes when you kiss
38. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before
39. If you make a lot of money, put it to use helping others while you are living. That is wealth's greatest satisfaction
40. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a stroke of luck
41. Learn the rules then break some
42. Remember that the best relationship is one where your love for each other is greater than the need for each other
43. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it
44. Remember that your character is your destiny
45. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon

What do you think of microwave oven's??? I reheat my baby's food in it!

Dear Isabelle,

From what I have read and understand, I would never use or recommend a microwave oven. All microwave cooked food should be avoided.
I also oppose irradiated food. All exposure to radiation should be avoided whenever possible, especially the food we eat. The enzymes are killed by radiation, and possibly other nutrients are destroyed and changed. These factors are very important for your baby's health, as well as yours. Exposure to the radiation itself is cancer causing.

I hope I have deterred you from using your microwave. I will try to find a good article on this and add it to my web site library.
